EMC and Electrical Safety Services

Handley-Walker’s EMC and Electrical Safety Consultancy service supports the development of electrical products from the design stage through to certification, by working with the design and manufacturing team to identify EMC and Electrical Safety Risk and the mitigation actions that eliminate them or reduce them to ALARP. This gives you confidence that when the recommendations are carried out the product has the highest probability of achieving certification first time.

Where product is to be installed or operated next to high generators or sensitive plant/equipment our consultants will recommend at the design stage pro-active solutions which will reduce the need for costly solutions during the installation stage.

If your product is beyond the design stage, we can conduct a full review of the products performance characteristics, its intended location and potential neighbours. We can provide a Gap Analysis of what will be required with a comprehensive road map of how to achieve certification.

Test Laboratory
We also offer, through our associate Test Laboratory, the full range of EMC test facilities backed by test and consultancy engineers who have a wealth of experience in both laboratory and in-situ testing. Our Laboratory is a Competent Body under the EMC directives.

Project Consultancies

Subcontract work supporting the Consultancy in the delivery of major projects where EMC and Electrical Safety is a requirement in the assurance process. Our Scope of work covers:

• The development of a technical file detailing how compliance to the directives is achieved.
• Conducting site or route EMC surveys
• Advising on the need for testing and which test should be undertaken.
• Monitoring tests and verifying that the results are correct.
• Recommending appropriate solutions to achieve compliance.
• Recommending appropriate cost effective solutions to protect the assets from outside potential interference or protect the neighbour’s equipment from that generated by the equipment used on the project.
• Monitoring the impact of those recommended solutions.
• Ensuring that the project gains regulatory and stage gate approval in the field of EMC and/or Electrical Safety
